There are so many good things to say about Blueprint Construction and it is impossible to fit everything I want to say within a single Google review. Our house was heavily damaged by a hail storm, and Blueprint Construction was incredibly helpful right from the start. The owner came to our home the same day we reached out and he provided a detailed quote. I also received quotes from a few different companies and Blueprint saved me about $9000 in total for siding and roof replacement/repair. There was very little waiting, and the team that worked on our house was incredibly professional. They went above and beyond and you could tell that they cared about their work. The clean-up was also well-done, and I couldn't find any nails or other stray materials on my lawn or flowerbed. The end result was fantastic and the owner checked-in with us throughout the process to ensure we were satisfied with everything. Overall, I couldn't be happier and I would highly recommend this company for anyone needing repairs to their house.Posted on Google![]()

Insurance Damage We Repair
Insurance claims on the outside of a home usually come from four causes: hail, wind, fire and water. Each damages the roof, siding and structure differently, and each needs a repair that matches the claim. We repair roofs, siding, soffit, fascia, eavestroughs, windows and doors, and the framing and sheathing behind them. We work on the exterior and the structure, not on contents or interior restoration. The photo shows an entry door and wall charred by a fire at a Calgary townhouse before repairs began.
- Hail damage to roofs and siding
- Wind and storm damage
- Fire damage to exteriors and structure
- Water damage behind siding
- Estimates for your adjuster
- Full repair after approval
Roofs, Siding and Eavestroughs
Hail Damage Claims
Hail bruises shingles, cracks vinyl siding and dents eavestroughs, vents and flashing, often without an obvious leak. We inspect each slope, wall and soft metal, photograph the damage and write it up so your adjuster can see what we saw. When the claim is approved, we repair or replace the damaged parts. Our hail damage page explains the inspection and the steps in more detail. The photo shows hail-bruised shingles on a Calgary roof found during an inspection. Our hail damage page explains the steps.
- Roof, siding and soft metals inspected
- Test areas counted and photographed
- Estimate for your adjuster
- Repair or replacement after approval
Fences, Roofs and Siding
Wind and Storm Damage Claims
Calgary windstorms and falling trees tear off shingles, loosen siding, flatten fences and rip soffit and fascia away. We make the damage safe, cover openings so more water does not get in, and then document what was damaged and what repair it needs. If a fence section came down, a roof lost shingles or siding blew off, we handle the temporary protection and the permanent repair. The photo shows broken fence boards and a collapsed frame after wind damage on a Calgary lane. See our fence repair page for fence damage.
- Openings covered quickly
- Damage photographed and documented
- Estimate for your claim
- Permanent repairs after approval
Soffit, Walls and Doors
Fire Damage Repair to Exteriors
After a fire, the exterior and the structure behind it often need rebuilding: charred siding, burnt soffit and fascia, damaged rafter tails, scorched doors and frames and roof edges. We assess how deep the damage goes, cut out what is burnt and rebuild it to match the rest of the house. Structural repairs follow your insurance approval and any permits that apply. The photo shows burnt soffit, rafters and wall boards above an entry door at a Calgary townhouse before the repair.
- Burnt siding, soffit and fascia replaced
- Scorched framing assessed and repaired
- Doors and frames replaced
- Permits followed where needed
Behind the Siding
Water Damage Behind Siding and Sheathing
Water damage on the outside of a home often hides. A leak at a corner, window or roof edge can soak the sheathing and framing behind the siding for years before it shows. When we remove siding, we sometimes find rotted sheathing, failed building paper and damp insulation. We find the leak, fix it, replace the damaged sheathing and rebuild the wall envelope, and we document the damage for your claim when it applies. The photo shows rotted sheathing and failed building paper at a corner on a Calgary townhouse. See our siding repair and roofing pages.
- Leak source found and fixed
- Rotted sheathing replaced
- House wrap and siding rebuilt
- Damage photographed for your records
Not all damage is covered, and not all claims are worth making.
Is It Worth Making an Insurance Claim?
A claim usually makes sense when:
The damage is sudden, such as hail, wind or fire
Repair costs are well above your deductible
Damage is widespread across the roof or siding
Your policy covers the cause
A claim may not make sense when:
The damage is from age and wear
Repair costs are close to your deductible
The damage is minor and isolated
Your policy excludes the cause

How an Insurance Claim Works
Protect and Document
Photograph the damage, make safe temporary repairs and keep receipts. Do not throw away damaged materials before they are documented.
Report the Claim
Call your insurer soon after the damage. Ask about your deductible, including any separate hail deductible.
Inspection and Estimate
Your insurer sends an adjuster. We inspect, photograph and give you an estimate you can share with them.
Repairs After Approval
Once the claim is approved, we do the repairs and the work is checked against the estimate.
What We Do for Your Claim
Inspect and Photograph
We document the damage clearly with photos from the roof, the walls and the ground.
Prepare an Estimate
We prepare a detailed estimate of the repair work, in a format adjusters recognise.
Talk With Your Adjuster
We are available to explain our findings to your adjuster. You stay in charge of the claim.
Temporary Protection After Damage
Cover Openings
Missing shingles, holes in the roof and open walls are covered so rain and snow do not get in.

Frequently Asked Questions About Insurance Damage Repair
-
Q. Do you work with insurance companies?
We work with your claim. We inspect and document the damage, prepare an estimate and talk with your adjuster when needed. You stay in charge of the claim, and the repair is between you and us.
-
Q. What types of damage do you repair?
We repair hail, wind, fire and water damage to roofs, siding, soffit, fascia, eavestroughs, doors and windows and the framing and sheathing behind them.
-
Q. Do you repair fire damage?
Yes, on the exterior and structure of the home. We assess the burnt areas, remove what is damaged and rebuild it. We do not handle smoke cleaning or contents restoration inside the home.
-
Q. How do I start a hail damage claim?
Photograph any damage, call your insurer and book an inspection. Our hail damage page explains what we look for and the steps of the claim.
-
Q. Will my insurance go up if I claim?
It depends on your insurer and your policy. Ask them how a claim for this cause would affect your premium, and what your deductible is, before you decide.
-
Q. What is a hail deductible?
Some Alberta home policies have a separate, higher deductible for hail, sometimes a percentage of the insured value. Ask your insurer so you know what you would pay.
-
Q. How long do I have to report damage?
Policies set time limits for reporting a claim, so report as soon as you find damage. Waiting also makes the cause harder to prove.
-
Q. Can you give me an estimate for my adjuster?
Yes. We prepare a detailed estimate with photos of the damage and the repairs needed, and you can share it with your adjuster.
-
Q. What if the adjuster's estimate is lower than yours?
That happens. We explain our scope to the adjuster and show the photos and measurements behind it. You decide how to proceed with your insurer.
-
Q. Do you do temporary repairs?
Yes. We cover openings, tarp roofs and make damaged parts safe so the home is protected until the permanent repair.
-
Q. Do I need a permit for fire or structural repairs?
Structural repairs after a fire may need a building permit from the City of Calgary. We talk through the requirements with you as part of the plan.
-
Q. Can I choose my own contractor?
Generally yes. Most home policies let you choose who repairs your home, though some insurers have preferred contractors. Check your policy, and we are happy to explain what we would do and what it would cost.
-
Q. Should I wait for the adjuster before repairs?
Wait for the adjuster before permanent repairs, so the damage can be seen. You should still make temporary repairs to stop more damage, and keep photos and receipts. We can protect the home right away and document everything for the adjuster.
-
Q. What does a damage estimate include?
A good estimate lists each area of damage, the work to repair it, the materials, the labour and the cleanup, with photos and measurements. It should be detailed enough that your adjuster can compare it line by line.
-
Q. Is wind damage to a fence covered by insurance?
It can be, depending on your policy and the cause. Many home policies cover fences damaged by wind or a fallen tree, subject to your deductible. Check your policy and photograph the damage before anything is cleared away.
-
Q. How long do insurance repairs take?
The repair itself usually takes days to weeks depending on the damage. The claim process, the adjuster visit and material delivery add time, and we keep you updated on the schedule.
-
Q. Do I need photos for a claim?
Photos are one of the most useful records you can have. Take wide shots showing where the damage is and close-ups showing the detail, with the date, before any temporary repair if it is safe. We also take our own photos during an inspection.
-
Q. What if my claim is denied?
Ask your insurer for the reason in writing. A denial can come from the cause, the policy terms or the amount of damage. Our photos and estimate can support a review, and you can also ask the insurer about its appeal process.
-
Q. Which areas do you serve?
We repair insured damage in Calgary and in Airdrie, Chestermere, Cochrane and Okotoks, and in the areas between.
