Our Roofing Services in Calgary
Roof Leak Repair
We trace the water from the stain on your ceiling back to the real entry point on the roof or in the attic, then fix that point. Leaks rarely start where the stain appears, so patching the ceiling or caulking the nearest shingle does not last. Read our roof leak repair page.
Hail and Storm Damage
Hail bruises shingles and dents siding and eavestroughs. We document the damage with photos for your insurance claim, then repair or replace the roof once the claim is approved. See our hail damage page. For claims, see insurance damage repair.
Roof Repair
Shingles, flashing, vents and decking repaired at the source instead of patched over. Our roof repair page lists the repairs we handle most often and what they cost.
Roof Replacement
A full tear-off and new roof with ice barrier, underlayment, IKO Cambridge shingles, ridge caps and vents. Our roof replacement page explains the process, the cost and the signs it is time.
Roof Inspections
A top-to-bottom look at shingles, flashing, vents and decking, with photos for your records. A good time for one is after a hailstorm, before winter and before you list a house. See our roof inspection page.
Metal and Flat Roofing
Metal panels and flat roof systems take different skills and materials from shingles. If your home or building has one, ask about it at your estimate. See our metal roofing and flat roofing pages.
How to Choose a Roofer in Calgary
Proof of Insurance and WCB
Ask any roofer for proof of liability insurance and Alberta WCB coverage before work starts. Roofing is high-risk work, and an uninsured crew can leave you responsible if someone is hurt or something is damaged.
Itemized Quotes
A good quote lists tear-off, decking repairs, underlayment, shingles, flashing, vents and cleanup as separate lines. A vague one-line quote makes it impossible to compare, and the missing items show up later as extras.
Local and Reachable
Choose a roofer with a local phone number who will answer after the job is done. Check recent Google reviews and ask for local references you can call.

What Happens on a Blueprint Roofing Job
-
Inspection and Quote
We look at the roof and the attic, take photos, measure and send an itemized quote that spells out the scope and the price. If the roof only needs a repair, we tell you that.
-
Tear-Off and Preparation
The old shingles come off, damaged decking is replaced, and ice barrier and underlayment go down. We protect your landscaping, siding and windows while we work.
-
Installation and Cleanup
Shingles, ridge caps and vents go on, flashing is sealed, and we clean up the yard before we leave.
What Most Calgary Homes Have
Shingle Roofing for Calgary Weather
Most Calgary homes wear asphalt shingles, and for good reason: they cost less than other roofing materials, install quickly and are easy to repair. Calgary weather is hard on them. Hail bruises the granule layer, chinooks swing the roof between freezing and thaw, UV is strong at our elevation and ice dams form wherever heat escapes from the attic. We install IKO Cambridge laminated shingles with ice barrier at the eaves and proper attic ventilation, so the roof is built for those conditions. The photo shows a Calgary roof with two roof vents, a detail we check on every job.
- Asphalt shingles suit most homes
- Laminated shingles for a thicker profile
- Ice barrier at eaves and valleys
- Vents for attic airflow
From Delivery to Roof
How Materials Reach Your Roof
On a replacement day, the shingles are delivered and staged on the roof before tear-off begins. That keeps the job moving and shortens the time your deck is open to the weather. The old roofing is hauled away, and the new materials go on in order: ice barrier, underlayment, shingles, ridge caps and vents. The photo shows IKO Cambridge and hip and ridge bundles staged on a Calgary roof ahead of installation.
- Materials delivered and staged first
- Old roofing hauled away
- Deck open for as short a time as possible
Details That Decide Roof Life
Ice Barrier, Underlayment and Ventilation
The shingles are the part you see, but three hidden layers decide how long a Calgary roof lasts. Ice and water membrane along the eaves and in the valleys stops meltwater that backs up behind ice dams. Synthetic underlayment over the deck is the second line of defence if wind-driven rain gets under a shingle. And ventilation lets the attic stay cold in winter, which keeps snow from melting unevenly and refreezing at the edge. Cutting corners on these is how a roof that looks fine ends up leaking in year five. The photo shows ice barrier and underlayment going down on a Calgary roof.
- Ice barrier at eaves and valleys
- Synthetic underlayment over the deck
- Ventilation sized to the attic
- Flashing at every penetration

When to Book Roofing Work in Calgary
How Much Does Roofing Cost in Calgary?
Roofing costs depend on the size and pitch of the roof, the material and what is under the shingles. For most Calgary homes a repair runs from about $300 to $2,500. A full asphalt shingle replacement typically falls between $8,000 and $18,000, with roughly $10,000 to $14,000 for a typical 2,000 square foot home. A much lower quote usually skips something, such as decking repair, ice barrier or ventilation, so compare quotes line by line.
What Drives the Price Up or Down
- Roof size and number of squares
- Pitch, valleys and dormers
- Layers of old roofing to remove
- Decking condition under the shingles
- Shingle type and ventilation upgrades

There are so many good things to say about Blueprint Construction and it is impossible to fit everything I want to say within a single Google review. Our house was heavily damaged by a hail storm, and Blueprint Construction was incredibly helpful right from the start. The owner came to our home the same day we reached out and he provided a detailed quote. I also received quotes from a few different companies and Blueprint saved me about $9000 in total for siding and roof replacement/repair. There was very little waiting, and the team that worked on our house was incredibly professional. They went above and beyond and you could tell that they cared about their work. The clean-up was also well-done, and I couldn't find any nails or other stray materials on my lawn or flowerbed. The end result was fantastic and the owner checked-in with us throughout the process to ensure we were satisfied with everything. Overall, I couldn't be happier and I would highly recommend this company for anyone needing repairs to their house.Posted on Google![]()

Frequently
Asked Questions
About Roofing in Calgary
-
Q. What is the typical cost of replacing a roof in Calgary?
For most Calgary homes a full asphalt shingle replacement falls between $8,000 and $18,000. A typical 2,000 square foot home runs about $10,000 to $14,000 with architectural shingles. Steeper pitches, extra layers and decking repairs push the price up. We quote each job after an inspection so the number matches your roof.
-
Q. Is it cheaper to repair or replace a roof?
A repair is cheaper today, but it is only the better value when the damage is limited and the rest of the roof is sound. If the roof is near 20 years old, losing granules everywhere or leaking in several places, repeated repairs usually cost more than replacing it. We will tell you which one fits at the inspection.
-
Q. What time of year is cheapest to replace a roof?
Prices stay fairly steady through the year, but demand does not. Mid-summer is the busiest period. Booking in spring or early fall, outside the rush, usually gives you more choice on dates. Roofs can be replaced on mild winter days, though shingles seal slowly in the cold.
-
Q. How long does a shingle roof last in Calgary?
Asphalt shingle roofs here typically last 20 to 25 years. Hail, poor attic ventilation, ice dams and a poor installation can shorten that. Regular checks and quick repairs of small problems help a roof reach the top of that range.
-
Q. What is the biggest problem with metal roofs?
The main drawbacks are higher upfront cost and installation quality. Fasteners, seams and flashing details have to be done right, and thin panels can dent in hail. A well-installed metal roof can last much longer than shingles, so it is worth discussing for some homes.
-
Q. How do I know if my roof has hail damage?
Look for dented or soft spots on shingles, granules collecting in the gutters, and dents on vents, flashing, siding and eavestroughs. Damage is not always visible from the ground, so have the roof inspected after a hailstorm and before you file a claim. Our hail damage repair page explains what we look for.
-
Q. How long does a roof replacement take?
Most residential replacements in Calgary take one to two days. Larger or more complex roofs, or roofs with a lot of decking repair, can take three. Weather can move the schedule, and we confirm the plan with you before we start.
-
Q. Will my insurance pay for a new roof?
It depends on your policy and the cause of the damage. Hail and wind damage are often covered, while age and wear usually are not. We inspect the roof, document everything with photos and can support your claim with the findings.
-
Q. Do you offer free roofing estimates?
Yes. Call 587-839-1670 or send the form on this page. We look at the roof, take photos and send an itemized quote with no obligation.
-
Q. Which areas do you serve?
We work across Calgary and in Airdrie, Chestermere, Cochrane and Okotoks, and in the areas between.
